occoquan1's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beltane Devotions and Rituals Happy Early A.M. Dearest Diary... Here are a few Beltane devotions, spells, and rituals that I've pulled from my BoS and from other sources... Beltane Devotion by Salem Drake Dearest God, Dearest Goddess, it is the season of flowers and everything is green and alive! As the love between you grows and comes to fruition, I grow and flower as well. Thank you for all the infinite possibilities of growth, the ability to manifest my desires, and for this most wondrous and beautiful world in which to express them. May the joy of this day be felt by everyone around the world, and may this joy teach them peace and love for all creation. So Mote it Be. May Eve Spell by Karri Allrich Tonight's twilight begins the Bright Fire, or the Celtic festival of Beltane. May's warm Sun inspires in all thoughts of love and pairing. The longing for merging with our opposite is strong. On this eve of the return of the summer's pleasures, take a moment to honor your own integrity. Prepare a candlelit bath scented with lavender and rose. Scent your hair with rosemary oil and soothe your skin with lotions. As you care for your body, revel in its gifts and natural beauty. See yourself through a lover's eyes. Nurture and love yourself. For if you do not love yourself, how can you expect another to truly love you? Self-worth is the gift the Goddess brings to you this night. Beltane Spell by Abby Willowroot May day is a good time to promote love and happiness in your life. To do so, use pastel-colored candles, as many as possible, and a large bowl of fresh water with flower petals floating in it. Adorn your ritual space with flowers and new leaves, and sing the following verse t the spirits of the holiday: Queen of the May, Jack-of-the-Green, A more joyous time has never been. Flowers bloom and children sing, Fairies bless each river and sacred spring. All life is joyous and we revel, In being healthy, happy, and alive. The Morris Dancers Stomp the Earth, Wakening Gaia with blissful mirth. Petals abound in vibrant hue, Signaling all Earth's life is born anew. Blessings flow all around, Magic springs underfoot from the ground. Love and passions fill the air, Celebration and revelry is everywhere. On this day, My true love come to me; Let us share our hearts in festivity. Dancers prance the Maypole round, Laughter and music freely abound. Joyousness and reverence mix together now, Blessing virgin, bird, and cow. Danu's Fairy Folk now draw near, Their laughter and magic is growing clear. I share this day with those I love, Healing Sun streams from above. Flowers crown the Queen of the May So blessed be this sacred day. So mote it be. Beltane Fire Magick Ritual by Gerina Dunwich Perform either April 30 or May 1 Beltane, one of the four major Sabbats observed each year by Wiccans throughout the world, celebrates the sacred union of the Goddess and the Horned God, and is derived from a Druid fire festival from long ago which was carried out in belief of promoting fertility. The lighting of bonfires is an old Beltane tradition, as is dancing clockwise around a brightly-decorated Maypole (an obvious phallic fertility symbol). On the first day of May (or anytime after sunset on Beltane Eve, April 30) write your secret wishes, blessings, thanksgivings, prayers for healings, and so forth upon small slips of green paper or leaves. Roll them into little "scrolls" and tuck them inot a wreath fashioned from braided vines or twigs. Cast the wreath into a blazing Beltane fire, and say: Sacred fire, blazing so bright Accept this offering to your light. Burn into Ash, Turn into Smoke, O Beltane Fire-Drakes I invoke. I hope, my friends, that you find these inspiring. Blessed Be to You. Peace, Salem 1:23 a.m. - 04-30-04 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
