A journey of the Witch through the perils of nature, donate, a poem of New Orleans

I am still in shock at what has happened to the Gulf Coast...Biloxi, New Orleans...

I donated to the Red Cross a couple of hours ago, and hope to do so or a regular basis for awhile, until things can be put right. If they can ever be put right.

Sending energy to help is a good thing, but sending cash right now is urgent...

Here is a link for donating, and don't forget to select Hurricane Relief 2005...that will assure the money goes to the current recovery efforts. Donate to the Red Cross.

I wrote this poem about New Orleans back at the beginning of July...little did I know it would relevant, this soon....

New Orleans: Looking Back from 2024

by Salem Drake

Once there was a gorgeous city,
In the far delta lands,
She was called New Orleans,
She was a lady grand.

But that was a long time ago,
Before the changes that came,
Science proved global warming,
Politicians scoffed the same.

New Orleans was a grand town,
A town beloved by all,
She could surely enchant you,
In love with her you'd fall.

But that was oh so long ago,
Before the storms did come,
To wash that lady from the shore,
And leave nothing for none.

This is the story of New Orleans,
Destroyed by what man wrought.
Nothing now to be done but weep,
Her soul could not be bought.

This is the story of New Orleans,
A city that long ago used to be,
Nothing now to be done but weep,
Her soul lies in the sea.

Peace and Blessings,

Salem
