A journey through a drowned city, the shame of a too slow response

Just wanted to stop by for a few moments...there hasn't been much on my mind except for the ongoing disaster in the Gulf States. I have been glued to the news reports. I go to sleep thinking about it and wake up wanting to know what is going on.

I know that a disaster of this magnitude has never occured before, but I still think our response effort in helping the victims has been pitiful. If they can't evacuate everyone right away, at least drop supplies...food and water at the very least. It's been days...people who survived the hurricane and flood are now dying from the environment. We live in the U.S. and we can't do better than this?

And why in the hell was the President on vacation again? Can't he stay put in D.C. for once? My Goddess, you would think he thinks that being President is a game. Does he?

People have said not to politicize this situation, but I have to say that the way this situation is being handled is political. Everything is dependent on everything else. And this Administration is doing a shameful job in responding to this situation. They have not stepped up to the plate.

Shameful.

Peace and Blessings,

Salem
